Jamie + Brian = Married

After spending about 30 minutes on the phone with Jamie and hearing about their honeymoon and catching up on life, I announced that her wedding slideshow is completed and now posted.  She has got to be the world’s best friend, and I don’t even know her that well.

As you can see in the pictures, the wedding was beautiful and full of love and joy on a snowy day.  The wedding was held at the Willow Ridge Manor in Morrison, CO.  After I got the pictures I needed, I joined everyone out on the dance floor, sometimes with my camera.  For those of you who are NOT photographers, at the end of shooting a wedding, your feet hurt so badly that the last thing you want to do is hang out and dance.  Let me tell you, I didn’t notice my feet because the dance floor was hopping! This was a big testimony to how fun the people were and the music at the wedding.

Jamie is a light to all that are around her and it is so amazing to be able to see that in the pictures.  Jamie, you will add life and joy to Brian’s life and I am so glad he found you! Thank you so much for letting me capture your wedding day. I hope you enjoy your pictures.

Click here for the slideshow. There are plenty more great pictures!

This was Jamie’s first look in the mirror with all her girls around her.  There were a few tears…

and some fun…

Jamie and Brian opted to see each other for the first time when Jamie walked down the isle.  This was a private moment that they had together right before the ceremony, back to back so they wouldn’t see each other. This was such a cute idea!

I love this picture so much of Jamie and her dad…the guy on the right…HILARIOUS!

This was their private moment after the ceremony! I just love the backlight in this photo.

I simply LOVE this photo.

Wedding Details {Denver Wedding Photographer}

I am so excited to share my first wedding of 2010 with you.  It was a perfect wedding to start the year with Jamie and Brian. They are just the cutest couple ever!

Here are some details as a preview of more to come.

Thinking of Dubai & Good Friends

This week I was going through my archives of pictures and came across my trip to Dubai from November, 2008.  It brought back so many fond memories with my friends Patty and Roselyn and made me miss them dearly.  These pictures were taken when I went on my month long trip after I quit my corporate job. What an adventure!

So, as I am off to Vail and snowboard for the weekend, I thought I would share some of the pictures from Dubai when I barely knew what I was doing when it came to taking pictures like these.  My blog has been neglected recently and I apologize for that…so before I left for another few days, I hope you enjoy your cheap trip to the other side of the world.

I wish I had a filter on this one to cut down on the haze…

My Man!

My boyfriend, Heath, has been working about 1.5 to 2 hours away from his apartment. We have been missing out on the mid- week get togethers for dinner.  We have both been working very hard, and he has been living out of a hotel room…which I can’t imagine.  So last weekend, we had a very kick-back Valentine’s day. I worked a little and we hung out and rested while watching the Daytona 500 and a little motocross.  Believe it or not, I was kinda interested in Daytona 500, but when we were watching motocross, all I wanted to do was be riding my dirt bike.

There is something about getting to the end of a long week and being able to relax with someone you love dearly.  It was a nice weekend, but I miss my man again.

“…I love you and love being with you.

I am very excited about and looking forward to what will come next.

Happy Valentines Day!”

- Heath

Happy Valentine’s Day

My friend Heather has been more of a design consultant for me these last few months.  She is also my neighbor!  We share a love for chocolate, her dog Scout, and beautiful things.  It finally hit me of a good way to thank her for her investment into my business…a Valentine tray on steroids.  I had so much fun shopping yesterday for very specific things I knew she would love.  From assembling the flower bouquet, to packaging the cinnamon hearts, I thought completely of Heather and her generosity.  I loved giving to her!  Oh, and I also picked up some flowers for myself too!

Happy Valentine’s Day, from me to you!  Whether you are single, dating, or married, may you be romanced by the little things in life and show someone else a piece of your heart.

Last but not least, Heather and I started taking pictures of other things…like her dog, Scout, and my new camera bag…When I found this L.A.M.B. Bag, I practically said, “Hello, Lover!” It was a perfect marriage. My cameras are very happy in their new home.

Lofty Goals {Denver Wedding Photographer}

Like we all seem to experience when we try to bite off more than we can chew, last night was a very frustrating point for me.  Are you ready for my confession?  Here we go: I try to do it all and get frustrated when it doesn’t work.

At the start of this new year, I hoped to be organized, keep my apartment tidy, take time to exercise consistently and stay current so piles of stuff didn’t form around my place.  I work out of my home and therefore time I spend working versus chores can become very blurry.  At this moment, I have a couple loads of laundry on my bed that has not been folded and a sink full of dishes.  You remember the tornado that I mentioned after the holidays…I don’t think I have ever recovered the wreckage.  Yesterday I wanted to spend the day stopping this pattern; however, all my efforts yesterday were thwarted.  I am a clean and organized person!  I am, I promise.  So what in the world has been going on here?  I feel like I have completely crashed and burned with my personal goals!

It amazes me how high I aim sometimes. While this is not a bad thing, having such high expectations for myself can reach a counter-productive point. Last night I reached that point.  I felt defeated. For most photographers, January through March are relatively slow months.  However, I have been working very hard the last couple weeks to tighten up my branding, design a new logo, and to release a new image of my business.  While my existing logo is wonderful, it doesn’t seem to appeal to the refined look that will take me in the direction that I am heading and I am ready to take it to the next level.  These changes are very exciting and are a better reflection of me, my photography, and what you can expect from my work.  This morning, in this moment, I am okay with my mess.  I made choices to prioritize staying in touch with my clients, helping friends, being a supportive girlfriend, sister, and daughter.   That wins! Letting go of my lofty organization goals at home is a sacrifice I am willing to make over being a friend and loving the people around me.  Today, in this new day, I still have a MILLION things on my To Do list that will not get done, but I still hope beyond hope to reach high and slay dragons.

Posts are always better with pictures…here are a couple.

February 8, 2010 - 9:07 PM Ben O'Neal - Sounds like you made the right decision. Your talent is going to shine regardless. I can't wait to see the new logo, though.

Mixing it Up {Denver Architectural Photography}

I have a lot of projects in the hopper right now and I am so excited to share one of them with you.  I have had an opportunity to take some photos for Hensel Phelps Construction Company of their newly completed job of the EN/EMP COF buildings at Ft. Carson, Colorado. This building houses several companies’ gear. The wings of the building are filled with locker rooms, ammunition safes, and offices.  The back of the building is also offices.

This was definitely a change of pace for me, but I look forward to expanding my photography expertise and doing more work with Hensel Phelps.

These are lockers for the troops.

This wing is very LONG:  Three separate entrances and areas that are closed off of each other long.

In order to provide some definition the the offices and conference rooms, I staged them with the right props to help define the space better.  It was fun to decorate the rooms.

Here is the final presentation poster that I am presenting to the client.  Hope they like it!

Looking for a Gift for your Valentine? {Denver Boudoir Photographer}

Just a thought…in case you were looking for a special valentine to spice up your relationship or simply just boost your self-esteem, here is an idea: Boudoir photos.  My goal in a boudoir session is to make a woman feel sexy and proud of her body.  An added bonus is the men in their lives usually get to reap the benefit.  Treat yourself; treat your man.

Beautiful Cousin and Growing Family {Denver Wedding Photographer}

My cousin Nikki and her family were out in California the same time I was for Christmas. I was so excited when they asked me if I would take family photos for them.  She and Jeff have such cute kids. It is such a blessing to know they are having a GIRL as their third baby coming in 2010.  I am sure she will be just as gorgeous as Rowdy and Simon.  Love ya Nikki and Jeff.  Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys.

Meet Rowdy!

Here is baby brother Simon.

January 14, 2010 - 10:03 AM Jeff - Danny, Thank you for the amazing pictures. I am such a tight wad that these are actually the first real family pics we've gotten. And, after seeing them, I am so glad we did. They turned out so incredibly well. I am amazed at how good Rowdy looks. He's got his mother's photogenic beauty. My only complaint is that you couldn't find a way to photoshop in a better looking guy... :)Hopefully, we can make this an annual thing. I hate to make you work over Christmas, but we are going to loving these photos for the rest of our lives. Thanks again cousin, Jeff PS - My mom literally started crying when she saw them last night!

Coming Up for Air {Denver Newborn Photographer}

Why does it seem that by the time New Year’s hits, I am always gasping for air.  After having an absolutely wonderful time with family and then with my boyfriend’s family, I walked into my house after being away for a couple of weeks and it looked like a tornado had gone through the whole place.  THE WHOLE PLACE.  It was completely overwhelming to come home with poinsettia leaves all over the table and floor, packing materials for my client cards, loads of laundry to do, and the list keeps going.  I could probably spend a few days just organizing, doing laundry, and some spring cleaning.  However, amidst my crazy house, I get to take a breath from the chaos and retreat to photos and design.  How could I turn down or not look forward to working on the following announcement?

Ryker is the newest addition to my boyfriend’s sister and her family.   He is just as cute in person as he is in these pictures.  I love what Erin chose as a starting design and am so pleased with the final design! They will just look that much better in print on pearl paper. I can’t wait.
